A great place for hiking enthusiasts, with many trails and well-developed services. In the center, you can easily find a taxi or a car to take you closer to the main attractions. There are ATMs, shops, nice cafes, restaurants, and pharmacies. I can recommend the hike to the Koruldi mountain lakes - although the lakes themselves are not very impressive, the road there and the surrounding views are a real adventure.

The city has a subtropical climate and stunning natural surroundings. I visited the Botanical Garden and highly recommend it for nature lovers—many species are brought in from different parts of the world. It's pure pleasure to stroll through and take in the sights. The old city area has a charming European feel—clean and cozy, with beautiful facades and cobblestone streets. This area is perfect for foodies and coffee lovers. I spotted many cafes that I would have loved to visit if I had more time. The outskirts of the city, however, resemble ghettos. While safe, they are somewhat unpleasant, so I wouldn't recommend venturing far from the city center 🙂. Also, if you stay in the center, you probably won't need a taxi, as it's quite compact and walkable. Driving could be problematic since the streets are narrow and not designed for the high volume of cars in the city.

I arrived here to meet up with my friends. We went on a couple of hikes: from Turtle Lake to Mtatsminda Park (nice, but not too impressive) and Sabaduri Forest (I recommend this one). The city itself has its own vibe. My friends like it, but for me, it's too loud (car horns, roaring motorcycles, traffic), and I'm frustrated by the litter everywhere, the homeless, beggars, and the sketchy graffiti on every wall. Just not my vibe. I enjoy exploring cafes and eateries, and there's plenty to choose from, but it seems like most of the spots are located in the basements of residential buildings—small rooms without windows. Most of the good places are run by expats. Prices are also unexpectedly high, almost like in Europe, but the service and quality are quite low on average.

Just amazing. There are plenty of specialty coffee shops to dive deep into the local coffee culture. The beautiful mountain roads are perfect for exploring the area around the city.

It is a cosy island with a very warm atmosphere and cool people from all over the world. I took an open water course at one of the many dive centers here. The island is quite small, but there's plenty for water activity enthusiasts, not just diving but also snorkeling, kayaking, paddleboarding, and even rock climbing.

Unfortunately, Phangan was fully booked till march and we didn't find any good house, so we decided to move to Koh Samui and come some day later. It was really crowded, it was the post-covid period and Thailand just opened the borders a few months before.

Cosy city with very welcoming people and delicious kitchen (Navat restaurants are the best). I can recommend hikes to Ala Archa and the Konorchek canyon. I tried many hostels here and my favs are People Hostel - warm atmosphere and community of travellers, and Freelander - more like coworking and IT community oriented hostel. But i wouldn't recommend visiting Bishkek in late autumn or in the winter season because of smog, air is really bad.
