Steward requests/Global permissions: Difference between revisions
Revision as of 16:51, 31 October 2015
This is not a vote and any active Wikimedia editor may participate in the discussion.
Global rollback and global interface editor requests require no fewer than 5 days of discussion while abuse filter helper and maintainer requests require no fewer than 7 days. Global renamer and global sysop requests require no fewer than 2 weeks of discussion. For requests that are unlikely to pass under any circumstances, they may be closed by a steward without further discussion (after a reasonable amount of input).

Requests for global rollback permissions
- Your request might be rejected if you don't follow the instructions, and not doing so would reflect poorly on your suitability.
- Please also review the Global rollback policy.
Instructions for making a request
|
---|
Before requesting, make sure that: You have sufficient activity to meet the requirements to be allocated the global rollback flag
=== Global rollback for {{subst:u|{{subst:REVISIONUSER}}}} === {{sr-request |status = <!-- don't change this line --> |domain = global <!-- don't change this line --> |user name = {{subst:REVISIONUSER}} <!-- don't change this line unless you're nominating another user --> }} ::''Not ending before {{subst:#time:j F Y H:i|+5 days}} UTC'' The request will be approved if consensus to do so exists after a period of consideration of no less than 5 days (with rare exceptions , no matter how obvious the result may seem). This is not a vote, and all input is welcome. Stewards will determine whether consensus exists; when doing so it is likely that the weight given to the input of those involved in cross-wiki work will be most influential. |
Global rollback for Muhraz
- Global user: Muhraz (edits (alt) • CA • global groups • crossactivity • verify 2FA )
- Not ending before 4 October 2015 17:07 UTC
I'm planning to use this rollbacker rights to patrol several small Nusantara Wikipedias (su, map-bms, bjn, bug, ace) as well as other sister projects (e.g. Indonesian Wikiquote, which I held temporary adminship before). Some of these wikis are simply inactive or even abandoned and prone to cross-wiki vandalism (e.g. this case), so I'm looking forward to contribute more to fight vandalism. Thank you. - Yes, previously my cvn efforts are perhaps concentrated at several wikis only (at id, where we had regular vandal attacks), but recently I've also done it globally and began to patrol via cvn-sw (special credit to Bonaditya for that). Muhraz (talk) 05:17, 30 September 2015 (UTC) [reply ]

- Support Support -- Trusted user at id.wp and min.wp. Wagino 20100516 (talk) 05:45, 4 October 2015 (UTC) [reply ]
- Not done, no clear consensus. Although there is no doubt in user's trustworthiness or language skills, there seems to be lack of cross wiki activity/reverts required to grant this permission. Please feel free to re apply later when you gain more experience, Thanks--Shanmugamp7 (talk) 14:56, 7 October 2015 (UTC) [reply ]

Before requesting, make sure that:
=== Global sysop for {{subst:u|{{subst:REVISIONUSER}}}} === {{sr-request |status = <!-- don't change this line --> |domain = global <!-- don't change this line --> |user name = {{subst:REVISIONUSER}} <!-- don't change this line unless you're nominating another user --> }} :''Not ending before {{subst:#time:j F Y H:i|+2 week}} UTC'' The request will be approved if consensus to do so exists after a period of consideration of no less than two weeks (no exceptions are allowed no matter how obvious the result may seem). This is not a vote, and all input is welcome. Stewards will determine whether consensus exists; when doing so it is likely that the weight given to the input of those involved in cross-wiki work will be most influential. Please note: Since 2019 all global sysops are required to have two-factor authentication (2FA) enabled. |
Global sysop for Holder
- Global user: Holder (edits (alt) • CA • global groups • crossactivity • verify 2FA )
- Hi. I'm active on small wikipedias since more than ten years. I'm sysop and bureaucrat on als:wp (my home wiki), sysop on pfl:wp and ksh:wp, and global rollbacker. I'm requesting the global sysop flag for improving my support for other small wikis. Thanks and best regards. --Holder (talk) 05:27, 15 October 2015 (UTC) [reply ]

- @Taketa: With promotion to global sysop it is common to leave the global rollback rights... I know we remove other rights when we promote people to steward, but with global sysop it's different. Mostly because global sysop is subject to an inactivity policy, while global rollback is not. Could you please re-add the global rollback rights again? Thanks. (PS. I'll subscribe him to the global sysop mailing list; I've already received a subscription notice.) Trijnstel talk 21:01, 29 October 2015 (UTC) [reply ]
- I corrected that shortly after adding them, as global rollback is not superfluous to global sysop, the former being fully global and the latter being limited to the wikiset. Sa vh ñ 21:31, 29 October 2015 (UTC) [reply ]
- Hi both, I see Savh has added it. I will keep this in mind for future cases. All the best, Taketa (talk) 21:32, 29 October 2015 (UTC) [reply ]

Requests for global IP block exemption
- Your request might be rejected if you don't follow the instructions. Please review Global IP block exemption. You may request Global IP block exemption via stewards(_AT_)wikimedia.org if you can not edit this page.
- Please note: Global IP block exemption does NOT make one immune to locally-created blocks of any sort, only global blocks.

Global IP block exempt for Gaming4JC
- Global user: Gaming4JC (edits (alt) • CA • global groups • crossactivity • verify 2FA )
I would like to request IP block exemption for 23.95.21.9. It is a static IP address under my control. This will be used during commutes, over public wifi, etc. and provide minimal protection from MITM Attacks. It is not configured to be an open proxy, and requires an ssh key to login. Global rename for VegasCasinoKid

- User: VegasCasinoKid (talk • edits • logs • UserRights • activity • CentralAuth • email • verify 2FA )
- Not ending before 31 October 2015 16:57 UTC
I'm looking to volunteer with requests for users who wish to change there names. I've created my username in May of 2014 and have over 1000 edits on enwiki since then. My contributions by in large have been positive and I have always considered helping with somthing that's easy to do. VegasCasinoKid (talk) 16:57, 17 October 2015 (UTC) [reply ]
- Oppose Oppose You only have about 1500 edits on enwiki and from what I have seen, haven't helped with the request for rename process there. eurodyne (talk) 17:02, 17 October 2015 (UTC) [reply ]

Also, I'm not satisfied with the I have always considered helping with somthing that's easy to do. comment.
