HexChat’s window closed without disconnecting from the server? I didn’t try to close it for anything but rebooting, but—in case of such behaviour—a reasonable software had to mark its client session with AWAY or otherwise indicate an abnormal position. Are you sure that the window was actually closed, not minimized? And is/was the client program connected to freenode directly? Incnis Mrsi (talk) 19:41, 2 September 2019 (UTC)

Latest tech news from the Wikimedia technical community. Please tell other users about these changes. Not all changes will affect you. Translations are available.

Recent changes

  • You can use the new termbox interface if you edit Wikidata on a mobile device. This is to edit labels, descriptions and aliases easier on the mobile pages. [1]
  • Recurrent item The new version of MediaWiki has been deployed during the last week.
  • The previously announced change of positions of the "Wikidata item" link on all wikis has been rollbacked due to unexpected cache issues. [2]
  • The limit for rollbacks has been increased from 10 to 100 rollbacks per minute. [3]
  • The advanced version of the edit review pages (Recent Changes, Watchlist, and Related Changes) now include two new filters. These filters are for "All contents" and "All discussions". They will filter the view to just those namespaces. However the "All discussions" filter does not include pseudo talk pages, like discussions that are in the Project: or Wikipedia: namespaces. But it will include changes happening on Project talk: or the Wikipedia talk:. [4]

Changes later this week

  • Recurrent item The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 3 September. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 4 September. It will be on all wikis from 5 September (calendar).
  • When you log in, the software checks your password to see if it follows the Password policy. From this week, it will also complain if your password is one of the most common passwords in the world. If your password is not strong enough, please consider to change your password for a stronger password. [5]

Meetings

  • Recurrent item Advanced item You can join the technical advice meeting on IRC. During the meeting, volunteer developers can ask for advice. The meeting will be on 4 September at 15:00 (UTC). See how to join.

Sorry for the late response. I was AFK due to travel. I have checked the settings and I am indeed connected directly to Freenode using SSL. I think I indeed closed the program, but I may well have minimized it instead in error. However, given that I shut-down/power-off the PC when not around it, that also kills HexChat. I'll try to use /quit before closing HexChat and see if that makes me disconnect from the network more reliably. —MarcoAurelio (talk) 10:06, 11 September 2019 (UTC)

Closed requests for permissions

Latest comment: 5 years ago 2 comments2 people in discussion

Hi, is it really necessary to edit all closed RfXes to add a coloured "The following discussion is preserved as an archive of a closed Meta-Wiki request. Please do not modify it." box? I understand why there are certain categories for them, but I on purpose do not add these boxes because I think they are silly. The pages are not transcluded in Meta:RFA anymore when they are done, and a "done" notice is at the bottom. That should suffice to deter people from editing, imho. --MF-W 21:14, 16 September 2019 (UTC)

Hi MF-W. I mostly add them for historical reasons and the categorisation they add, which is helpful. Regards, —MarcoAurelio (talk) 09:42, 17 September 2019 (UTC)

Solicitud de desbloqueo

Latest comment: 5 years ago 2 comments2 people in discussion
