Hello, I submitted a request to rename my user name. But the circumstances request was rejected. I wanted to be renaming me over from Koroshami to Lhea, but I saw, that it username using now. Question on chances to usurp an unused account, not intended for editing, but as alias with echo notifications
My user name is ° and I do not intend to change that. But it is not easy to enter this name on a non german keyboard, or even to read it in a signature. I do use the additional account Gradzeichen and that account forwards all echo notifications intended for me to me. But I had the idea, that it would be even better if I could use G (Disk) as signature (i already use this short to sign on the german equivalent of the signpost). The account user:G might after renames and SUL-finalization ended up with a now inactive user, allowing me to ursup it. But this is not the case. While G is not so active as in the past, the account has made significant contributions and is still active from time to time. user:gz on the other hand, has only ever edited for three hours in 2006 and never came back. Is there a chance to ursurp gz by having user:Gradzeichen additional renamed to gz? (pinging user:DerHexer, user:Cyberpower678 and user:Steinsplitter to ask for comments). --° (Gradzeichen )

ok, thanks. I will leave a note on gz's talk page, but have no high hopes. But the system is unfortunate: If I had this idea before SUL finalization, I could have created gz on any project, make 23 edits and win the name on finalization. Actually I might have created user:g on wikidata (where it did not exist at that time) and add 4280 labels to entries of russian/chinese/arabic politicians/sportspersons/singers. That would have been valid and good faith edits, causing me to get the account g on finalization. If that would have been not possible because of constraints on cross project similar user names, I would still have been able (at a time, when SUL became a real possibility, but was still so far away, that there were no such cross wiki constraints) to create user:g on de.wikinews.org, a widely unused project, where it would have been easy for me as a german to make a signifikant number of valid edits (adding sources, partizipating in the verification of news entries, creating new news entries) --° (Gradzeichen ) 06:41, 15 May 2016 (UTC) Reply
