This page hosts requests for global (un)blocks, (un)locks and hidings.

If you are here because you have been blocked by a global block, and believe that the block is in error or you have not done anything wrong, there are a few methods through which you can appeal:

 • If the IP is not currently blocked on meta, you can post a request to this page following the instructions below to have the IP unblocked.
 • If the IP is currently blocked on meta, you can post an appeal on your talk page. For maximum effectiveness, link to the username of the steward who globally blocked the IP address using the code USERNAME so that they are pinged by it.
 • If you are editing from an account and have been caught by a global IP block that is unlikely to be removed (i.e. because it is an open proxy or because of long-term abuse), you can request an individual exemption from the block at the requests for global permissions page. Please see the section on global IP block exemptions on that page for specific instructions for making a request.
 • If none of those options work, you are free to email us at stewards@wikimedia.org.

Note: (un)blocks apply to IP addresses; and (un)locks apply to global accounts

Requests for global (un)block

Please be sure to follow the instructions below:

Your request might be rejected if you don't follow the instructions.
Please also review Global blocking .
Global blocks don't affect Meta-Wiki, so if your IP address or account is blocked, you can still appeal here. IP addresses or accounts that cause disruption on Meta should be reported at Meta:Requests for help from a sysop or bureaucrat instead of here so that they can be blocked locally.</translate>
<translate> Please describe the kind of cross wiki abusive activity you see from the IP or account. Saying an IP or account is a long term abuser is not helpful, but saying "IP vandalizes at ban.wikipedia, no.wikipedia and vi.wikipedia" is. This is especially important for range blocks. If you do not provide enough details, your request might be declined.</translate>
<translate> Instructions for making a request</translate>

<translate> Before requesting, make sure that:

 1. You know the IP address(es) or accounts you wish to have globally blocked or unblocked.
 2. For blocks, the global blocking criteria are met.
 3. For unblocks, your request addresses the original reason for blocking the IP or account, if any.

To make a request for the address(es) or account(s) to be blocked or unblocked

Copy the template below to the bottom of this section and explain why the address(es) or account(s) should be blocked/unblocked.</translate>
Global block/unblock for <translate><!--T:5--> Some IP address or account</translate>
Status <!-- Do not remove this template -->
* <translate><!--T:6--> IP address/username</translate>
<translate><!--T:7--> Description, evidence, diffs, etc.</translate> --~~~~

When requesting that your IP be unblocked, note that stewards need to know your IP address to even consider a request.
To find your IP, please visit <tvar name=whatismyip>https://www.whatismyip.com/</tvar>
You are not required to disclose your IP in public - you may make requests privately to any steward on <tvar name=IRC>IRC</tvar> or by email at: <tvar name=address>stewards@wikimedia.org</tvar></translate>

Global block for -jkb-

This user expose my the location of my user IP without my permission and preventing me from unblocking from de.wikipedia.org. I tried many times to require his/her location, but all my IP addresses blocked without reasons.

My Region has been exposed to the public without my permission, and that is from using IP trace website, my privacy harmed and his behavior tends to be illegal at https://de.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia:Sperrpr%C3%BCfung&oldid=136708045#Benutzer:Janagewen_.28erl..29

Blocked IPs by his/her without improper reason: https://de.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Benutzer_Diskussion:-jkb-&action=edit&undoafter=136911599&undo=136911619

You exposed the IP yourself: de:Special:Contributions/119.53.115.62DerHexer (Talk) 00:32, 19 December 2014 (UTC) Reply
Exposing my IP is without guilt, but expose the region to the public should need the permission of this user. But you guys first do not require my permission, second using the IP trace website to expose my IP region. Those two behaviors tend to be illegal on internet privacy protection. Janagewen (talk) 00:44, 19 December 2014 (UTC) Reply
This seems like nonsense. You personally exposed your IP (any user editing from IP is warned he will expose this, "Du bearbeitest diese Seite unangemeldet. Wenn du deine Änderung speicherst, wird deine aktuelle IP-Adresse in der Versionsgeschichte aufgezeichnet"), thereby accepting that the information of your ISP will become public. He has not exposed your location, merely the location where your IP is registered to. The IP registry is public, it is not an "IP trace website", your IP has not been traced. In any case, not a steward task. Sa vh ñ 00:53, 19 December 2014 (UTC) Reply
I think you misunderstand or misinterpret what you referred here. Exposing the IP address to the public does not mean and is not equivalent to exposing the region through IP-Trace Website (third party provider) to the public. Janagewen (talk) 01:00, 19 December 2014 (UTC) Reply
I think you misunderstand the functioning of IP registrars, and the role of stewards. Nothing for us to do here, and I suggest you read the article on IP adresses on the wiki. Nothing has been "traced". Any further irrelevant and absurd comments will simply be removed. Sa vh ñ 01:11, 19 December 2014 (UTC) Reply

Hi guys -- I'm requesting a global IP rangeblock to shut down abuse from a guy who has been harassing us for almost nine years. He's an obsessive harasser and spammer, who has now taken to posting offtopic chatter, spam, and rather psychotic harassment on many Wikimedia projects (simple, Wikiquote, Wikisource, Wikinews, as well as the German, French, Italian, Portuguese, and Japanese wikis, as well as others). He has made multiple threats of violence to me and others, most of which have been deleted (diffs viewable by those with admin rights on individual wikis). I'm reporting those to law enforcement and have already contacted the Foundation. Here is a recent an rather tame example of his abuse from this morning. I can provide a lot more diffs if you like, but Luxo's tool will show you hundreds of examples of his style. The ranges I'm asking for you to block are his T-Mobile; he also sometimes edits from Triton College and Dominican University in Chicago, as well as Staples, Best Buy, and other stores with display computers. I may make subsequent requests if this goes on. I have already blocked these ranges myself on enwiki where I am an admin. If you need any corroboration or further information, the Foundation knows about this and is backing me up. Thanks for any help, Antandrus (talk) 18:36, 19 December 2014 (UTC) Reply

Requests for global (un)lock and (un)hiding

Latest comment: 9 years ago 5 comments5 people in discussion
Be sure to follow the instructions below:
 • Your request might be rejected if it doesn't include the necessary information.
 • Warning! This page is publicly viewable. If the account name is grossly insulting or contains personal information please contact a steward privately in #wikimedia-stewards connect or email your request to the stewards VRT queue at stewards-oversight@wikimedia.org (direct wiki interface) but do not post it here. Thanks.
 • Warning! This is not the place to ask for locks based on your opinion that someone is disruptive. Global locks are used exclusively against vandalism and spam, not because of content disputes, not because you think that someone deserves to be globally blocked. In such cases, you should ask for local blocks at appropriate places.
 • If you are globally locked, you should appeal your lock to stewards-appeals@wikimedia.org.

Please describe abusive activity of an account before reporting them here. Since stewards are often not active at projects the reported accounts are, things that seem obvious to you may not be equally obvious to the reviewing steward.

Instructions for making a request

Before requesting that a global account be (un)locked, please be sure that:

 1. You have evidence of cross-wiki disruption from the account(s).
 2. You can show that it is not feasible to use local-only blocks or other measures like page protection to combat the disruption.
 3. You have considered making the request in #wikimedia-stewards connect , especially for account names which will be hidden, or for urgent requests.
To make a request for an account to be locked or unlocked
Copy one of the codes below to the bottom of this section and explain why the account(s) should be locked/unlocked.
Global lock/unlock for Foo
status <!-- do not remove this template -->
* username
* <!-- if you do not want the name to be visible on this page -->
*...
Reasons, etc. --~~~~

For many accounts:

Global lock for spambots/vandals
status <!-- do not remove this template -->
username
<!-- if you do not want the names to be visible on this page -->
*...
Reasons, etc, --~~~~

Hi! I have such problem. At ruwiki and other wiki (english, german and other) for several days I receive such message "WIKIMEDIA FOUNDATION Error Our servers are currently experiencing a technical problem. This is probably temporary and should be fixed soon. Please try again in a few minutes.

If you report this error to the Wikimedia System Administrators, please include the details below. The problem is the same from 3 different computers and different IP. There is no problem with new created account "Ibidem 2". I gave request on technical forum at ruwiki, but received answer to write request here on meta. Please try to solve my problem. Thank you. --Ibidem 2 (talk) 20:23, 7 December 2014 (UTC) Reply
