Cauchy Conditions
Cauchy conditions are initial conditions (time conditions) rather than boundary conditions (space conditions). An initial-value problem is often termed a Cauchy problem. These initial conditions may be specified at a boundary, in which case they are termed initial-boundary conditions.
The form of the initial conditions is specified by the Cauchy-Kovalevskaya theorem.
