ATLAS's architectural defaults are simply a record of the results of
a previously run ATLAS search. They exist for a couple of reasons:
- Using architectural defaults, install times are reduced to almost
bearable levels
- Because the search is empirical, installs can go wrong if unmonitored.
Architectural defaults given out in the standard tarfile have at least
passed the laugh test
