Image manipulation under Python / Tk

Dear all
I just wonder how to show a image from python. I tried to make it
through canvas widget of tk, hoping to put pixels on canvas. But Canvas
does not have a method to show dots. Any thoughts.
Also anyone know about a decent spread sheet widget for the python/tk.
