That's the same as I've got in my Dell Latitude (running RH7.3) and
as far as I can tell, it's "give me 16 bit samples or I give you
squeaky chipmunk voice" (or an error). I'm hoping that upgrading to
RH9 will give a newer audiodriver (alsa, hopefully) that'll fix this.
(waiting for vmware upgrade to support RH9 first...)
