VGA sync problem with LCD

Answering myself, I got a mode working. The exact mode (with lessened
horizontal sync times) described in the manual did not sync as a
1920x1200 mode, but drop 2 Hz from the vertical sync frequency and lo, I
have a crisp and clear image.
In case somebody searches for this matter, I'll note that here's the
modeline that got Samsung Syncmaster 244T's native resolution via VGA
cable working for me:
Modeline "1920x1200VGA" 148.50 1920 1968 2000 2080 1200 1203 1209 1233 +HSync -Vsync
