Personas discussion in context of use case, competition for the use case

Posted by boris mann on February 19, 2011 at 12:49am

Thanks to @rickvug for kicking off the personas discussion.

I feel pretty strongly that the community owner / site owner and community member / site user are the two most important personas from a priority perspective.

eaton's description of the overall target / use case is:

[tsunami] is currently meant for small groups of individuals who are collaborating on a project and want to communicate with each other, tell the world about their project, and attract other people who are interested in helping. Imagine a small open source project, a local community group seeking to renovate a park, or a club that needs to keep in touch between meetings and attract new members.

I think an addition to this should be some guiding principles:

  • the primary usage of this site will be by users
  • that is, when choosing between a site building use case and a user-centric use case, Tsunami will lean towards the user-centric use case

Git migration launch date re-set to Thursday, February 24.

Posted by eliza411 on February 15, 2011 at 9:58pm

After careful deliberation, the Git Migration Team has decided to postpone launch one week to Thursday, February 24 at 3pm PST to allow time for final server configuration and additional testing.*

All the the individual components involved in the Git migration have been tested in the staging environment but bringing them together on the production hardware has taken longer than we allowed for. The team agreed we would all feel much more comfortable with a buffer of at least two full days of uninterrupted community testing prior to deployment.

DrupalCon Core Conversation: HTML5 + Drupal 8

Posted by jensimmons on January 12, 2011 at 4:12pm

I've been having a lot of conversations about HTML5 and Drupal 8 this week while in Chicago — both with people here and with people back in New York. And the Core Conversation proposal deadline is coming up soon!

This is what I'm thinking. Let's present a real-world "This Is What We Think Should Be Done". As a call-to-action, where people can get involved and there are leaders driving each thing.

I'm thinking of submitting this proposal. And present as a team, team-tag style (one person do each section):

Posted by calshei1 on January 5, 2011 at 8:03pm

Drupalers,

For those of you not able to make the marketing call today, we wanted to let you know about a fun effort some of the developers at LevelTen put together for the D7 launch.

The site is called http://d7blue.me, and it is a play on two ideas:

  1. The Iran Election support campaign (http://helpiranelection.com/)
  2. A popular joke from the Arrested Development TV series. (watch the video on the homepage for explanation)

Consistent approaches to git documentation for site builders

Posted by owen barton on January 4, 2011 at 11:19pm

I have been reviewing the various documentation (http://drupal.org/node/803746) and blog posts oriented towards site builders on this topic over the last few days, and it seems there are many very different recommendations a approaches to building sites with git. There is an opportunity here to shape some best practices that will both make everyone's lives easier in the long run, but also encourage contribution back to the community as a standard part of building any Drupal site.
