I'm new to ec. Is it possible to use it to setup paid membership with the start and end dates showing in members account (with profile module maybe)?
If yes, how do I go about it? Thanks.

How do I know what version of ec I have? This is the filename that I downloaded: ecommerce-5.x-3.6.tar.gz
