Reducing monitor name minimum length #259

Hi!

I have two small suggestions that I hope could be implemented in the future.

I created several Monitors, and when creating a new one, the name field does not allow entering a word(s) with less than 10 characters. For some of our monitors, 3 or 4 characters are enough, so it would be great if the minimum length could be reduced from 10 to 3, if possible.

The second suggestion is related to linked monitors on a status page I created. It would be great if the "Rows per page" setting did not reset to 5 every time the page is opened, especially when there are more than 5 monitors. For example, once I set it to display 12 rows per page, it would be helpful if it consistently showed 12 rows every time I open Linked Monitors.

Neither of these request is urgent, but I would appreciate it if they could be considered for implementation in the future.

Thank you :)

@ividako95 I dont understand need for 3 character monitor name, just add monitor to the name (Test Monitor) :)

For the second suggestion I think you are interested in seeing status of all linked monitors without using pagination.

I can add "Failed Linked Monitors" card next to Subscriber which will show something like 0/2 (0 failed of 2 total monitors), would that be a better solution?

Hi @krish-kant,

my reason for suggesting 3–4 characters is that most of the things I want to monitor have names with four letters (with one exception that has three letters). However, it’s not a problem to add "Monitor" after the name, as you suggested (which is how I have been naming them so far). :)

As for the second point, it’s also not a problem if it stays as it currently is. Since I use some other monitoring tools, I’m probably just used to the rows-per-page setting staying the same once I select it, even after logging out and logging back in. This isn’t really an issue if it remains as it is now; it will just be one extra mouse click when I want to find and edit/pause a monitor. :)

Regarding your suggestion to add "Failed Linked Monitors", it’s not something I had in mind, but it’s definitely a good idea to add at some point.

@ividako95 Monitor name requirement is now reduced to 3 char and new card for failed monitor is added for status pages.

Changes will be merged in next release version (v1.3.2) but you can try v1.3.1-canary.12 or https://demo.supercheck.dev
