Subcategories are currently being implemented, see #198 for reference.
However, I think adding image to snippets would clutter the page more and add inconsistency throughout the snippet base, since people aren't using the same settings for screenshots (size, styles, etc...) It would also interfere with the website's theming and add storage overhead.

Also adding sub-category could allow people to add framework of some language.

We now have support for frameworks and libraries.

I think it would be a great idea to add image to snippets because it allow you to see if there is some ui involved.

I also agree with @majvax's point on adding images. It would clutter page and might slow the website as snippets grow in the future.
