Extracting annotator/anchoring into a public NPM package #3763

Hi,

I'm a maintainer on Readium Mobile, a toolkit for eBook and audiobook readers.

Recently, we implemented a highlighting feature using parts of Hypothesis to locate a text snippet in an HTML resource. As the client is a monolith, we had to copy the annotator/anchoring module directly in our codebase.

Since we would like to benefit from bugfixes and evolutions as well as contribute to Hypothesis, would it be possible to extract the anchoring module into its own NPM package? At the moment we are only using anchoring, but we would potentially be interested in using your highlight rendering engine as well.

I'm not sure it needs to be extracted into its own repo, as long as you can declare several NPM packages in a single repo.
