Hey!

It seems to be very missing discussion about having standalone MCP server as part of desktop application (https://desktop.github.com/download/).

The reason for asking is quite simple: desktop app already has authentication ready, no need for expensive docker or anything else than your favourite editor configuration which can be also provided as a template generator inside the desktop app.

So by this major security problem will be resolved, less hardware resources required and also less actions will be required from the user (aka developer) side — all the points are appreciated, at least to my mind.

No reason to continue discussion if GitHub Desktop application will require docker. :)
