Dear SimulIDE developers,
First of all, thank you so much for creating and maintaining such an amazing, free, and open-source real-time circuit simulator. SimulIDE has been incredibly useful for learning electronics, prototyping microcontroller projects, and teaching others. The continuous improvements and community support are greatly appreciated.
I would like to kindly request a new component: a 16-segment display (also known as 16-segment alphanumeric display or starburst display).
Why this would be very valuable:
16-segment displays allow much better representation of letters (A-Z), numbers, and some symbols compared to standard 7-segment displays, which are already included in SimulIDE.
They are commonly used in many real-world applications: industrial equipment, vintage calculators, clocks, scoreboards, avionics, ham radio devices, and hobby projects with alphanumeric output.
Many users (including students and hobbyists) simulate projects that require displaying letters or full words, and right now the only workaround is building a custom subcircuit with 16 individual LEDs, which is time-consuming, not visually clean, and hard to multiplex or scale to multiple digits.
Thank you again for your hard work and for considering this request. I (and many others, I'm sure) would be extremely grateful!
