Potential species mis-ID (penguin in African ponds) #1

Open
@ejlundgren

Description

Dear BioTime maintainers, It is wonderful to see BioTime v2.0 out! Congratulations on all the hard work.

I am trying to link to IUCN records (which for birds unfortunately do not fully overlap with the valid_name taxonomy). Eudyptes glaucoides from STUDY_ID 67 doesn't appear to match any species I can find. Moreover, Eudyptes itself is a marine genus of penguins while STUDY_ID 67 occurred in terrestrial/freshwater environments in Southern Africa.

Eudyptula cornutus is also a penguin in STUDY_ID 195, which occurred in southern Arizona.

Perhaps taxize incorrectly assigned these species?

Unfortunately, I do not have BioTime v1 to check what the species was originally recorded as (and I don't see a species table in the download options).

All the best,

Erick
