The fixed output window at the bottom of the code window is blocking precious screen space which I would like to use when coding. On the other hand I like to watch many lines in the output window during compiling or uploading.
Manually resizing the output window is annoying.

It would be perfect if the output window would have an "auto hide" feature (like in VisualStudio), where the window becomes visible when I click on its tab in the tab bar on the screen bottom and hides again if I click inside the code window.
Of course this feature should be toggleable and disabled by default to keep beginners from getting confused (as pointed out by pert).
