ECC OSS vs ECC Pro — why both exist (reference) #1920

Got this question 4 times this week so writing it up once.

ECC OSS (this repo): MIT-licensed forever. Free. Install with one line. Includes:

  • Full skills library (138+)
  • All agents (30+)
  • All commands (60+)
  • Production hooks
  • Cross-harness support
  • AgentShield CLI for security scanning

This is what 99% of people use. It's not a freemium teaser — it's the actual product.

ECC Pro (19ドル/seat/mo): Hosted GitHub App. Adds:

  • Private repo PR audits (the OSS CLI only works on local/public)
  • 50 analyses per active developer seat per month, pooled across the installation
  • 1,000 commits per analysis run (vs 200 on Free)
  • AgentShield-backed continuous security scanning on every PR
  • Priority support
  • Billing portal for invoices and self-serve cancel

See pricing: https://ecc.tools/pricing
Install the App: https://github.com/apps/ecc-tools

Enterprise (custom): SSO, custom rules, audit log, dedicated onboarding, SLA, unlimited analyses. Contact: affaan@ecc.tools.

Common confusion (and answers):

"Do I need Pro to use ECC?"

No. The OSS install is the full product for public repos and local dev.

"If I wipe my machine, do I have to repurchase?"

No. Use https://ecc.tools/account to recover the existing install.

"Why does Pro use the same name as the OSS?"

Because Pro IS the same product, just hosted with GitHub-native automation. Same agents, same skills, same security scanning. Pro adds the hosted layer.

"Can my company buy seats for a team?"

Yes. Pro is per-active-seat, pooled at the GitHub installation. Enterprise gets unlimited.

"Is there a non-GitHub-App way to pay?"

Yes. Stripe direct, billing portal, monthly or annual. Same product, different payment surface.
