inspired by #374, it might be worth adding build-size checks + dependency visualization so we can verify savings (and prevent regressions) in a consumer-style bundle.

we already have vite in our devsdeps through vitest, there's the rollup-plugin-visualizer which can be used together with vite as dependency visualization tooling

Optionally we can add a lightweight size budget check in CI to catch regressions.
