Armored_Turtle claims that BoxTurtle can be made with any number of lanes:

But it seems to be unclear where to get the controller board for more than 4 lanes from ... as well as the STLs for the parts and the dimensions for the alu extrusions ...

There are complete Kits available for it, BOM-in-a-box for around 270€ and all printed parts for around 250€-270,ドル plus shipping from the USA (minimum 60€ to Germany for example).

Thanks for catching that! I've updated the Box Turtle comparison. To keep the comparisons even, I'm using US dollars for all prices.

Yep, sure. That's 300 US-$ for the "BOM in the box" and another 300 for the printed parts if you want to buy that as well (but it's available at least, printing yourself might take weeks, looking at the number and size of the parts ...
I like the servo driven rewind though, no buffers, less space occupied ...

The chromahead may be the weak point. Not because it’s bad, it isn’t, but because the nozzle is proprietary

Now, there is Pico MMU. Looks promising...small, easy to part and small footprint.

Hi,
Looking at gathering the components needed for this build. My question is on the recommended sensors and setup. In your BOM I don't see a recommended setup for the sensors or recommended sensors. The diagram which shows all the diff sensors which can be used does say which should be used for a best setup. (i'm in the UK), Also the kit does not look like it includes sensors.
But do you have a recommended sensor setup (including type) and also is there a option for adding a filament cutter? I want to use a remote located gate (close to the 3ms)

Hi @the427boss ,

Firstly, some sort of gate endstop is required. This means you must have a sensor directly after the Y-splitter or directly before your printer's extruder. These designs vary from printer to printer, but the Filatector is a good universal one.

Also, yes, the kits do not include sensors because each printer requires a different design. Take a Voron, for example, with the Stealthburner head. It would probably use the extruder entry sensor mod designed for the ERCF. A Prusa, however, has a filament sensor built-in from the initial build, so you don't need to add any additional sensors.

I can update the configuration page to make this clearer.

Hey Chris, I assume you are referring to the Pico MMU build. 0I really do not want to disappoint you or give you a dead end, BUT that's all you are going to get from me. I have not begun to build this yet. Actually, I may just say hell with it and wait for the Bond tech Indx...or wait for an open source build similar. Looks like many more benefits that the mmus that have been showing up lately. Anyhow, best of luck to you. Ryan

No worries. Toolchangers are a completely different approach to multimaterial printing, which is why I don't have comparisons for those. Best of luck!

The recommended setup for a filament cutter is to have one in your toolhead, like a Filametrix, but if you want one close to the 3MS, I would recommend looking at the BT Snappy and modifying it to fit the 3MS.
