mingw compilation problems

Have you reviewed my 2006-q4 patches against the ecj branch? Like I said,
I haven't studied this thread in detail and don't have time to build the
trunk at the moment, but everything you're describing seems very familiar
and I thought I worked around these issues (if I am understanding yours correctly).
