A minor point really, but I think a static -vs- dynamic linkage
distinction is more useful than an "embedded" -vs- everything else
distinction. Many "embedded" systems can actually do dynamic linkage.
And most of our static linkers have been Windows users (like Adam's
ActiveX control), not embedded.
