Did you do these tests against cvs trunk or cvs gui-branch
(java-gui-20050128-branch
 This is a temporary branch for development of java GUI libraries 
(AWT and Swing) in the libjava directory.)
If against trunk, I guess a few issues could be solved on gui branch. 
(But not sure)
Just a thought.
