how to debug libjava/*? (was Re: FreeBSD/i386 problem)

I would like to fix this problem but how to debug it?
just assert print is fine at the moment.
% pwd
/work/gcc41compile/gcc-4.1-20050716/build
% touch ../libjava/classpath/java/net/URLClassLoader.java
% gmake
..
takes very long time...
is any tips here?
