Actually, comments are *always* free, if you know how to look for them.
We don't own the comments, and don't restrict them.
There has been a weird bug showing up recently where a few articles
don't come off subscription until some hours after they are supposed to;
that's what you ran into. I've fixed that article, so the full
discussion should be readable now. Sorry for the trouble.
