You'll find quite a few examples (snippets) at http://www.eclipse.org. The ones I
tried, work with GCJ too. By the way, when I update an SWT GUI from a different
thread, I usually use asyncExec (instead of syncExec) -- if they idea is to proceed
non-blockingly and in background.

3.3 addresses numerous issues that are still present in 3.2. You should
probably install 3.3 (separately).
