libgcj build - HOW?

Hello, I am building libgcj for a target of arm-wince-pe. We have done
a good deal of the required porting, and now libgcj is *trying* to
build. The problem is that no matter what I use for configure settings,
the only thing it even *tries* to build is libgcj.la.
I want the static library, libgcj.a, and no .la's or .lo's. What do I
have to do in my configuration script to get this??
