I just wanted to qualify this:
- This is true on MingW (Win32). I am not qualified to declare this about other
 platforms, though I suspect that the answer will also be affirmative
 in this regard.
- The 3.3 code is basically frozen and 3.3 is slated for release sometime "soon",
 I think. It's somewhat of a pity that your wonderful article is going against an
 older codebase, but of course, you have your own deadlines to deal with.
