Building on Ret Hat 9 and deploying on Red Hat 8

After successfully building and testing the server application on a Red
Hat 9 laptop, with GCJ 3.3 20030428, I copied the executable to a Red
Hat 8 server. I also copied all ldd visible dependencies not availabe on
Red Hat 8, to a separate folder I've put this folder on the Red Hat 8
server LD_LIBRARY_PATH.
After verifying with ldd that all dependencies are resolved properly,
the executable still crashes with a segmentation fault.
I had wanted to avoid this problem by compiling the gcc snapshot with
--disable-shared, but the snapshot fails to compile with this option.
On Windows, I've never run into this problem, because --disable-shared
is the default, and xcopy deployment works out-of-the-box. I would want
to avoid deploying this server application on Windows, because the
gcjlib runtime still loses 24 bytes per thread created on Windows; and
also, I wouldn't want to re-install the Red Hat 8 server with the one or
the other Windows OS.
Does anybody know how to deploy from Red Hat 9 to Red Hat 8? Or has
'--disable-shared' already been fixed again on the latest snapshot?
