I think you're talking of the "-mwindows" link time switch
to gcc, right?
Note however that we are talking of console windows opened
for *programs spawned by a GUI program* via Runtime.exec( ),
so this switch wouldn't help us at all, except in suppressing
the window for the GUI program itself.
