It looks like a very good candidate application, especially combined with what
http://irate.sourceforge.net/ is doing. It also has interesting political value,
besides showing off GCJ and SWT:
(1) irate.sourceforge.net only shares copyrighted works for which they have
permission;
(2) it justifies and exemplifies non-infringing use for the bittorrent
protocol (and by extension other p2p protocols);
(3) it attempts to establish the concept of "free music" as an analogy to
"free software" (free as in freedom, liberty).
A unholy combination or cross-polination of both projects would have technological as
well as substantial political merit. By the way, the irate website specifically
says that they are interested in moving to p2p things.
I'm all for it and waiting for suggestions.
By the way, I specifically rent a hosted server for this kind of (non-commercial)
endeavours. If you need additional infrastructure, besides what is available at
sourceforge, feel free to launch ideas.
