As soon as these patches make it into a release candidate, I will try to
replace the VC.NET-generated object files by gcc-generated object files.

In such case VC.NET should raise the issue, just as you do, but it doesn't;
or else it's an inconsistency that VC.NET glosses over. I don't know.
