make from trunk

I am not seeing this with a recent checkout (LAST_UPDATED: Thu Feb 20
15:17:24 UTC 2003) so try a cvs update first. You might want to try
sticking to the 3.3 branch because that is much more stable then the
trunk at the moment. I do see occasional build failures on the trunk
which are mostly resolved in a couple of hours but they are still
annoying.
