Alexandre's patch worked for me.

FYI I'm investigating an EH failure on i686-linux that isn't related
to Adam's problem. It has to do with exceptions that cross a shared
library boundary. I don't have a test case yet.

Also, sparc linux worked reasonably well the last time I tried it.

2.5.1, 2.7 and 2.8 all work to some degree. Probably 2.6 as well.
