Status of workaround for bug #4715 (Prevents compiling Classpath with 3.1)

I think someone who really understands the code needs to look at the
patch. Alex is the most likely candidate -- but he's very busy with
other things right now.

I'm not certain. If you understand the code in that area you could
comment on the patch. That might help.
