Status of workaround for bug #4715 (Prevents compiling Classpath with 3.1)

Hi,
We want to make a new release of GNU Classpath. But the following bug
prevents compiling Classpath with gcc 3.1 from CVS:

"Tree check failure in check_inner_circular_reference"
Compiling with gcj 3.0.3 seems to works though. So it isn't very urgent.
Should we add the patch or a reference to the bug database which
contains the workaround that Tom Tromey made in the Classpath release?
Is there anything I can do to help solve that bug for real?
