xerces not building with 3.1 branch?

I'm getting the following with the 3.1 branch...

Actually, this is with an April-5 era 3.1 branch compiler. I'd retest
with a newer build, but I'm travelling right now and I won't have an
opportunity to rebuild for a bit.
Does anybody else see this? (xerces is from rhug, of course -- and I'm
running RH Linux 7.2 on a x86 box)
