configure flags fo compiling java packages with gcj?

I want my Java application "Kawa" to be compilable to native code
using gcj, when a suitable configure option is specified. It would
be nice if we could standardize the configure option. I was using
--enable-gcj-compiled, but I think switch to --with-gcj (suggested
by Nic Ferrier) may be better. Do people think this is a reasonable
usage?
Basically, the idea is that when a Java package is configured,
amd --with-gcj is specified then the package will be compiled to native
code using gcj (a shared library and/or executable as approporiate),
*and* 'gcj -C' is the default value for $JAVAC, when used to
generate class files.
