Fwd: Status of gcj/java on PPC Linux?

Hi,
Okay, I studied the closures code last night and noticed that only x86 really implements the full "raw" interface and that IA64 and Alpha just implement the "closures" part.
So I will use Richard's alpha version as the model for ppc linux and should have some compilable code for you this weekend. It really is pretty straighforward. The only tricky parts are the trampoline code and the code jumped to by the trampoline which on ppc needs to dump the arguments passed in registers and build the pointer array pointing to each argument (which probably will need to be completely in assembler).
As you pointed out, to really test and debug it I will need to build the cvs gcc head (which I have done). I started playing last night just to see what java could do and soon realized my straight configure did not default to building java support. I looked around but could not figure out why?
What parameters to configure should I pass to force the building of all the java requirements during the full gcc build?
Thanks,
Kevin
