Oh, and GCJ is not the only real free implementation of Java. See

It is a static compiler I've written for a superset of Java, and it is
available under the GPL license. (And frankly, I think the extensions
we have made are much more useful than what the original poster wanted,
but I may be biased :-).)
And what about the Kaffe compiler and that IBM compiler, aren't they
under some kind of open source license?
