Anthony Green should be the designated responsible for gdb related
problems... :-)
More seriously, can you provide us with a test case and some
transcript for the gdb case? Make also sure that this isn't a problem
related to running jc1 under gdb with a different environment than
running jc1 from the command line (this one got me several times.)
