JVM Usenix paper got rejected

Appears that from the reviews that the people in charge of the Java community
aren't really interested in ahead-of-time compilation of Java. If the runtime
doesn't directly use .class files they just aren't interested.
Seems that the open-source community is interested in source compatibility and
clean integration with C++, whereas the Sun/Java community is totally obsessed
with "Pure Java". Unfortunately, the Java people still believe the myth that
a virtual machine implementation of Java can be efficient for embedded or
operating systems work. That's why JavaOS was such a failure and Java may
be doomed to always be only an applications development language.
