What libgcj version should I use?

The download.html page on the gcj website says the current official version
of libgcj (2.95.1) is broken and implores the reader not to use it. This
is the only version of libgcj mentioned.
Doesn't this deserve more comment? Is there a version that isn't broken?
One that the developers recommend? Or is it a disingenuous statement and
2.95.1 really is the right version?
In any case, it would appear that the word "official" here needs more
explanation.
