Did you run `make install' in the libgcj build tree?

First, make sure you *don't* have CLASSPATH set.
If it still fails, look for libgcj.zip in the install tree.
If it isn't there, then that is the problem.
(That would be more evidence in favor of the `make install failed'
theory.)
