Starting with gcj - having problems

Sat Apr 1 00:00:00 GMT 2000

Now I have a configure problem:
snsrv053:nardmann[libgcj-2.95.1]>./configure
Configuring for a i686-pc-linux-gnu host.
*** Cannot currently configure in source tree.
Do I have to extract the libgcj archive somewhere in the gcc
distribution
or how do I compile it?
