I can't answer yes or no because I haven't tried. 
The last known combination of gcj/libgcj on 
sparc/solaris 2.7 for me is the gcj dated 
20000221. Beware that this version will not work 
with the latest libgcj. That means you have to do 
a cvs checkout of libgcj dated 20000221. You should 
then get a libgcj/gcj combination which produces
executable binaries. However, you will have
thread wait/notify problems due to a Solaris bug.
