[SOLVED] Windows 8 GA Installation Failure 7.1.6 and above (ERROR_DRIVER_STORE_ADD_FAILED)

Hi,

Guest Addition instalation failed over Windows 8.1 and Windows Server 2012 R2, with next Error: "Error:DInstallDriverW() failed: ERROR_DRIVER_STORE_ADD_FAILED (-536870329/0xe0000247)
This happens from the Guest Additions versión 7.1.6 to last Test Build 7.1.7.167625.
Any ideas to solve it?

Does this also happen with 7.1.4 Guest Additions?

Old news. Happens with any release past 7.0.16 (and corresponding 7.1):

Turn signing off temporary and the later drivers will install.

Hi,

This did not happen in version 7.1.4.

On windows 8.1 uninstall Guest Additions 7.1.4 and install the latest Test version as indicated by "FRG" and it is now working correctly.

Now I'll try Windows Server 2012 R2...

Nothing changed. 7.1.7 and 7.25 guest install stil fails on 8.1 Pro if you don't turn enforced driver signing off. Then you get a few warning verification prompts but the driver can be installed. Happens on 8.1 Pro if sha-2 support is installed. If it installs without turning the signing requirement off the vm has not been fully updated with the last updates provided by Microsoft.
