dmesg: clock source not valid error when using external audio board

Wed Dec 03, 2025 4:13 pm

I have a Picade Max Audio USB audio board https://shop.pimoroni.com/en-us/product ... DYIjFpnU4n connected to my Pi 5. The system runs for a while just fine, although on every boot, I first I have to use raspi-config to set the audio output to "Picade USB Audio".

Once that is done, it will run for 5 to 15 minutes. But eventually I get this:

Code: Select all

[ 606.132419] usb 3-1: 1:2: usb_set_interface failed (-110)
[ 623.781865] usb 3-1: uac_clock_source_is_valid(): cannot get clock validity for id 4
[ 623.781875] usb 3-1: clock source 4 is not valid, cannot use
[ 628.901899] usb 3-1: 1:1: cannot get freq (v2/v3): err -110
[ 634.021929] usb 3-1: 1:1: cannot set freq 48000 (v2/v3): err -110
Does anyone have any ideas why this might be happening? I've tried the usual things like updating the firmware on the audio board (just in case). I've heard of similar errors with other audio cards through the years, but have not found any fixes.

I'm running the latest Trixie Lite with updates as of this week.

I'd appreciate any ideas - thank you!
